PROFILE: Roger Lee Brown
Roger Lee Brown is the founder and former President of the Pro-Tec School of Bassin', Inc. (some of you may have seen the ads on Sunday morning television) After resigning from Pro-Tec, Roger decided to put together a new school, one that would be more affordable for the average angler. In addition, he wanted to instruct his students one on one, with an agenda developed specifically for that individual.

Understanding Bass Part-1
Bass fishing is a sport like many others that when it comes to
knowledge and the understanding of the opponent it allows one to become more
successful. You may look at it kind of like deer hunting, the more the hunter
understands the scrapes, trails, food areas, water areas, runs, and habitats of
the deer the more successful the hunter will become at locating them.

Understanding Bass Part-2
In my last article "Understanding Bass Part-1" I covered a bit of information about a few of the "key factors" that an angler should really know about the bass when it comes to becoming a more successful angler such as: Food, Oxygen, and Cover which a bass needs to survive, as well as water temperatures and how it effects bass, along with a few others to help you increase your knowledge in the field of Bass fishing.

The Right Application
One of the most important factors in bass fishing whether you are a beginner, novice, or even a tournament contender is using the right application of equipment to coincide with your bait patterns. This is very important because you can "over work" your baits thus causing the fish not to strike. Over working ones bait can be a contagious disease especially for a male angler. (Okay ladies! this one's for you...) because a woman has more patience at working baits than a man does, (sorry guys, but it's a proven fact.) I have noticed this many times in the past from either the husbands with their wives, girlfriends/boyfriends, brothers/sisters, and even the male/female "tournament team" anglers while they were attending my 3-day bass fishing school.

Where's The Bass?
Where's the what?... Where's the bass! How many of us anglers (tournamentand recreational) go to a body of water you've never fished before, drop the boat in the water, then, ask this question to yourself? This is probably one of the biggest topics in bass fishing that an angler should learn more about. I generally receive about twohundred (give or take) emails and phone calls each week from anglers, prospective bass fishing school students, and charter clients from all over the Nation (even some from foreign countries) asking me many different questions related to bass fishing. Out of all of these questions, I would have to say that about sixty-five percent of them would be on how to locate bass in their area, or on a body of water thatthey have never fished before. I would comfortably say that locating bass and understanding the water would be the number one question among bass anglers today. The next most asked question would be is which baits they should use to catch "big" bass.

Top Water Fishing
Get ready for some “Top Water” action….First we’ll tie on that favorite artificial (top water) bait, next, we’ll make a cast into that great looking spot, and then as soon as the bait hits the water we’ll make that first little twitch with the bait, and after that, what usually happens is wham!!! A bass comes over and nails it. Now, seeing this happen, especially with your heart pumping and the adrenaline flowing we find ourselves jerking our rod instantly, now what happens next? You got it… the bait usually comes flying in the air right back at you… does this sound about like you’ve been there before? Don’t worry too much about it because it happens to the best of us from time to time. Top water fishing has got to be about one of the most exciting methods (or patterns) of bass fishing there is for just about any bass angler who loves the sport of bass fishing.

UNIQUE PRODUCTS THAT REALLY WORK!
Throughout many years of bass fishing I have seen so many different products that have been introduced to the bassin' industry that I lost count years ago. Some products have been exceptional, some good, some just okay, and some not so good, and with the industry being in the multi-billion dollar bracket there are literally thousands of products on today's market, and out of these "thousands of products" there are just about a handful that I surely wouldn't be without, mostly because they have proven themselves time and time again to gain the "Exceptional" reputation they so richly deserve.

Spinnerbaits! "A bait you should really try"
Through all the years of teaching students bass fishing skills and techniques, as well as many former guide clients I have taken on bass fishing trips, one question comes to mind that has been asked time and time again and that question is; "Are spinnerbaits really worth the money you pay for them?," and I have to say YES!....

"Don't Get So Wrapped Up In Color Selection!"
How many of you anglers who walk into Tackle Shops, Discount Stores, K-Marts, Wal-Marts, etc., go straight to the sporting goods department, look for the fishing rods sticking up in the air to zero in on the Fishing Lures and Plastic Baits section?
