Joel Richardson: Winning the Red-Man on Bugg's Island in 1996 and 1999 Points Championship along the way. Alvin turned professional in 1996 on the Wal-Mart, FLW tour and has had 8 top-ten tournament finishes 1 tour win. Beyond Bass Basics December 1 2005 with Matt Newman and Sue Crochet
Matt Newman of Agoura had an incredible day fishing at Lake Casitas in Ventura on Feb. 4. Newman told Western Outdoor News he caught and released 27 bass, with the smallest going 8 pounds and the largest weighing 12 pounds. Newman, a WON BASS Pro/Am and team tournament angler, said he used a Huddleston sinking swimbait and fished an area near the launch ramp where trout are stocked. Newman went back to the spot with Stan Vanderburg, also a WON BASS pro. Vanderburg told WON that their best five bass that day went 38 pounds and included an 11-pounder by Vanderburg and a 10-pounder by Newman.
Sue Crochet Like many other professional female anglers, I’m very excited about the Women’s Bassmaster Tour. BASS & ESPN are leaders in the sports industry and I feel that with their support and the exposure they will provide, women anglers have a much greater opportunity to make bass fishing their primary source of income, if they so choose. I also feel that those women who able to participate on the WBT this first year will reap benefits that others who wait until later will not. With the knowledge and experience I’ve acquired over the past 23 years, I am confident that I can do well on the WBT and hope that I can obtain the sponsors to support me during this first year on the tour.
