1st November - Killingworth Lake

Thousands of small fish have been found dead in Killingworth lake this afternoon. The EA are looking into it. This water is CLOSED until further notice. The fish deaths have been estimated at between 2 to 3000 small roach and a few skimmer Bream.. Investigations are underway to find out what has entered the lake causing these fish deaths.

This photo was taken after a lot of the fish were removed from the drain and it is estimated by the EA that the fish loss could be between 7500 and 10000.
Some of the fish that were found dead included small numbers of Perch and Carp as well as Roach.

Update - The Ea have blocked off some of the pipes with sandbags and it is expected that when they remove them that more dead fish will be washed out. The EA are asking members of the public not to phone them telling them that there is more dead fish, they are expecting this and they are visiting the lake every morning to monitor the situation.

12th October - Fish protection

Some photo's of the completed pipes that are going into Horton Grange for fish protection.
If anybody has got anymore pipes like these can you please drop them off in the car park at Horton Grange.

In the past couple of days the pegs at Horton have been repaired, topped up and levelled. Repairs to the road will be done as soon as we can arrange it.

11 - No rods to be left unattended (anglers must be within 8 yards of their rods at all times).
12 -  A strict speed limit of 5mph will be enforced.
13 - No minding of pegs i.e. if a member is absent from his peg for more than two hours he must vacate the right of the peg he was fishing.
