My name is Chris Wallace, I am 19 years old and born and raised in Andover, Minnesota. Minnesota is home to some of the best multi species fishing not only in the Midwest but in the world. From the fantastic fishery of Lake of the Woods, to the end of where the glaciers made their marks on the southern portion of Mille Lacs, to the blood line of the United States, the mighty Mississippi and the smallest streams in southern Minnesota where trout call home. Minnesota is the place to be for crappies, walleyes, muskies, northerns, trout, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, jumbo perch, catfish and sunfish, we have it all.
This will be my first full year of guiding on Red lake. This is a lake that came all the way back from being decimated in the seventies and eighties to the premier crappie fishery of the Midwest. It will soon be in the spring of 2006, a walleye fishery rivaling Mille Lacs, Lake of the Woods, Oahe and Devils Lake.
My passion is ice fishing; to me there is nothing better than working over a weed line or a rock pile, with an exact position, can sometimes be downright easy, while other times it is nothing more than frustration. Sight fishing bull gills in hidden pockets, working cliff walls for lake trout or fishing walleyes over a rock pile, I am game for all of it. The key to being a successful angler is every time you step out on to the ice or into the boat, you learn something new, and then the next time you go out, you apply it.
My objective as a fisherman is to spend as much time out on the lake as possible. Every time I go out, I force myself to learn as many new things as possible and apply it the next time I go out to be more successful. Fishing is not about being successful on one trip, it is being able to consistently put a pattern together every time you head out and put fish in the boat or in the bucket.
My objective as a representative for the sport of fishing is simple. Fishing is something that everyone can do, young and old, boys and girls, rich or poor, black, white, purple and green anyone can do fish and anyone can be successful at it. If I can write an article and just one person learns something from it, to me it’s a success. I want people to catch fish and I want people to have a great time on the water, if I can help people do that, than I am a representative of the sport and everything it stands for. I achieve this through various avenues of websites, tackle companies, seminars and videos.
A few of the companies and websites I pro staff for include: Charon Lures, Jammin Jigs, Hookerz Tackle, Kid Lizard Soft plastics, MarCum Technologies, Lakestatefishing.com, Bad Dog Lures, Dog Boat Tackle and my own site; chriswallaceoutdoors.com. Along with these, my partners Tyler Phelps and Scott Pugh will be teaming up with me to start our video company for hunting and fishing named CT OUTDOORS, a show that will go more in depth than just catching fish, we will show you exactly what we are doing from start to finish, from food plots in spring, placing stands scouting after the season, you will learn everything the serious hunter and fisherman need to know.
I look forward to helping out here as much as possible. If there are any questions or you would just like to talk feel free to contact me at chriswallace@lakestatefishing.com
